This paper investigates the latent sexual struggle between Nurse Ratched and McMurphy, a new and difficult patient, in Ken Kesey's novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. McMurphy introduces a bold sensuality to the ward, whose male patients have been repressed and subjugated by the women who oversee them. The sexual struggle between Ratched and McMurphy will bring consequences for all.
