The massive undertaking that was WWII necessitated taking women into both the workforce and the military. Resistance in the U.S. was felt, but this was tempered by the slow but steady social progress women were already making. While the effects of womens contribution to the country during the war would not cause dramatic social change upon the wars conclusion, it would lay the groundwork for most of the gains to follow.
