The Vietnam War, 1965 to 1973, was a war that the USA should have won on paper. In terms of firepower, the USA should have won the war with ease. Similarly, in terms of manpower, the USA was very strong - by the year 1968 the USA had half a million American troops fighting alongside as many South Vietnamese soldiers. Yet the USA resoundingly lost the war. Like many events in history, this loss is attributable to a variety of complex factors.
