This paper shall answer two short tasks regarding business information policy. The first shall evaluate recent regulations that demand that email back files be retained for a determined period of years, dependent on the business. The reality of this demand is evaluated along with some approaches to compliance. Second, the author will evaluate the principles that form the basis for the European Commission Privacy Directive and suggest whether or not they should also be adopted by the U.S. government in response to growing privacy concerns.
