The story of Cynthia Coopers investigations (with some help from a her of her colleagues) of WorldCom provides a trenchant response to employees all over the country who are aware (or at least suspicious) that something is dodgy in their own firms but do not take action to uncover the problems because they are worried about their own jobs. Cooper proved that it is possible to act with integrity: She had the choice of not acting and saving her job or acting and endangering her position. She chose to do the right thing reminding us that each one of us can make the same choice
