The internet and the company annual report was reviewed for current and past financial information, as well as current company focus and historical information about HBC and its movements in the last several years, with particular focus post-1998 when HBC began making changes to compete with Wal-Mart. This is when its marketing and consumer strategies were revamped to face the new competitive threat. A study of supply chain management, marketing strategies and other consumer research criteria was made.
