The Cultural Divide between French and Native Peoples.
This essay will argue that the relationship between the French and the Native People in the novel "Black Robe" is defined by the difference between the division between a Colonizing People and a Native People. However, it is interesting to see how this relationship is shown from both sides. Both the French and the Native peoples make use of each other in trade and in wars for their own purposes. As well, both Peoples appear to have equal contempt for each other's cultures. However, as this essay will show, in the end the French dominate the Natives and conquer them body and soul. 2 pgs.
