In this essay, an article by Stanley Peele is analyzed in order to evaluate Peele's rhetorical strategies. This essay presents a critical view of the article, indicating that Peele's mode of reasoning is flawed, and his premise is based on faulty assumptions. The essay is based on interpreting a discussion of social perspectives on addiction, and the role of "disease" in defining the significance of health and addiction in the American public.
