This paper provides a brief summary of the article "The Eroding Curriculum" by Deborah Perkins-Gough. Her own article is an explanation of the results of a study conducted by the Council for Basic Education in 2003. That study indicated that public schools are shifting their curricula to focus on reading, writing, and mathematics at the expense of arts, languages, and social studies.
