Staff Development Plan fof Standards-Based Curricula
The importance of a standards-based curriculum has become increasingly important over the past decade, an importance that has accelerated since the 2002 enactment of the federal No Child Left Behind law. However, while much of the discussion of the usefulness, and limitations, of standards-based has focused on the effects of such a curriculum on students, this is only part of the discussion. Teaching, administrative, and support staff who are switching from a more individualized teaching program to a standards-based program also need to be educated. This paper examines this aspect of standards-based education by devising a plan to provide standards-based professional development for the staff of a school.
