The Effect of Affirmative Action Legislation on Educational Planning Development at the K-16 Level
This paper shall discuss the role that affirmative action legislation should play in educational development planning in the K-16 environment. Following closely the findings in the Stanford Bridge Report, this paper argues that affirmative action and its goal of providing universal access to educational opportunities is not enough. Instead, educators must begin to address the pedagogical gap that exists between high school and university education and better prepare students to succeed instead of simply providing them access without the necessary resources to achieve any measure of academic success.
