This paper will focus on types of benefits of green roofs rather than beneficiaries. The benefits offered by greenroofs will be considered in four categories. Initially, economic factors will be assessed. Simply put, they are the bottom line for owners and developers. If green roofs can be demonstrated to be economically viable they will be widely adopted. Subsequently, the environmental benefits will be considered. These are diverse and wide-ranging. Finally, the 'soft' benefits-aesthetic, social and psychological-will be considered. 9 pgs.
