This eight-page undergraduate research paper discusses thirty various topics common in ancient literature, drama, and religious texts, including the Epic of Gilgamesh from Sumer, the Old Testament Book of Genesis account of the Garden of Eden, the trials of Job, the teachings of Jesus Christ, the Iliad, the Odyssey, Antigone, and Lysistrata. The author analyzes the actions of epic heroes such as Odysseus, Achilles and Gilgamesh, examines the role that gender and gender stereotypes played in these various works, and compares and contrasts features of ancient Chinese philosophies such as Confucianism and Taoism.
