In this paper we will study the various uses of infidelity for humor within The Miller's Tale by Geoffrey Chaucer. By understanding medieval marriages, and the unfair treatment of women under these manners of law, we can see how Chaucer uses humor to help liberate women, especially the main character Alison, from these types of moral commitments.
