Literary Analysis: Shame and Guilt in the Illiad by Homer
This paper will examine how guilt is part of the romantic relationship between Paris and Helen. Although they feel guilt because they are committing infidelity on a national level, they do nothing to surrender their love, regardless of how many men would die for their immorality. In reaction to this, both Achilles and Hector find themselves being shamed into foolish behaviors, as they are invariably pulled into the war tragedy.
