The Short Story, Novella, and Novel: What they are and how Great Writers use them to full effect in creating memorable prose works.
This paper is about three different literary forms - the short story, the novella, and the novel - and about how they affect the form and structure of the literary narrative. Simply put, the longer the story, the more 'reversals' or unanticipated twists and turns one can expect. To illustrate how these forms can be used effectively, the writer focuses on Joyce, Mansfield and Dickens.
