Chief Joseph Brant's involvement in the revolutionary war, treaty negotiations, and Christian teaching allow him to be viewed as one of the major deciding factors in the settlement of the New York frontier at the turn of the 19th century; further add to this the political influence of his eldest sister Molly Brant and there is little argument as to their familys involvement in the history of the Adirondacks.
