Creation Myths

It is not uncommon for a civilization to ponder the question of existence. Many people think upon this question in their daily lives, everyone wanting a reason or a purpose to live. This leads almost all civilizations to return to the beginning where it is all supposed to have started and look for the answer to the age-old question - where did we come from? Most people of the Western World are familiar with the story of Adam and Eve and many are familiar with the “big bang” theory of creation. It should be said that this theory has far more to do with science than any actual creation myth and it is for this reason that scientific theories such as this one shall not be discussed in this essay. This essay will instead focus on creation myths and their similarities and differences to one another. Further, this essay will also denote the origin of each myth whether it is tied to a particular civilization or religion. All in all, these myths have much more in common than might at first meet the eye and all of them are in some way the celebration of life.
