Philosophy and Cognition: Understanding D.M. Armstrong and David Lewis Views on Functionalism and Identity Theory within the Human Mind
In this paper we examined the book The Nature of Mind by David Rosenthal, revealing how Identity theory plays a large role in how modern theorists, such as Armstrong and Lewis, portend a greater materialist view on behaviors of the mind. By identifying the causal relationships of the brain in relation to emotion, the Behavioral theories seem to wane in light of modern neurological studies that show stimuli interacting within societal conditions.
