This three page undergraduate paper examines why the international community in the post-Cold War world has been experiencing realignment as nation-state foreign policies evolve to meet the new conditions presented by the fall of the Soviet Union and the increasingly dominant position of the United States. Over the past decade, the old international order has been changing into a new international order, defined more by globalization and the dynamics of the global war on terrorism.
