This paper examines the Freudian, Rogerian and Gestalt theories. Freud had developed the psychodynamic approach, which tried to explain what motivated behaviour. He put particular emphasis on the role of the unconscious in human thought and action. Rogers believed that people could help themselves and their problems through self-actualization. Gestalt theory emphasized higher-order cognitive processes in the midst of behaviorism. 6 pgs. Bibliography lists 7 sources.
