Sociology in Film: Understanding Social Structuralism in the Film: Dangerous Minds by John N. Smith

In this paper we have examined Strain Theory, Choice Theory, and certain aspects of cultural deviance played a part in Johnson’s efforts to educate the inner youth of the film “Dangerous Minds” by John N. Smith. In this manner, we have examined four scenes, which reflect the idea that environment and poverty are all part of why youth choose criminal behaviors in this film, and how they were able to relearn new social and educational tools under Johnson’s tutelage.
